Fraser Fir is a medium-sized tree, up to 50 feet (15m) tall, forming a narrow, conical crown. Cylindrical cones, 1-3 inches (3.5-7cm) long, are dark purple when young maturing to brown with conspicuously-protruding bracts that bend downwards hiding the scales.
